Project “The entrepreneurial aspirations in the higher education“

The Centre for business development BSC Bitola alongside with the University “ St. Kliment Ohridski” perciving the need of the business sector  for better academic staff and the need of the students for introducing entrepreneurial subjects at the University “ St. Kliment Ohridski “ –Bitola ,has together started to implement a project for establishing entrepreneurial education at this university “ The entrepreneurial aspirations in the higher education”.

The purpose of this project is:
Raising the consciousness  for the significance of the entrepreneurship as a factor for bridging over the problem with unemployment as well as for the need of entrepreneurial education al all levels,at a national level ,especially among the students
Initiating a process for administering the entrepreneurial education within the framework of the curriculum at the Universities in the Republic of Macedonia
Establishing Centres for starting up a career at a university level, which will support the possibilities offered by the European tranfer credit system and will meet the needs of all the interested students from every faculty
This is a way at which a change towards increasing the practical knowledge, improving the quality of the education and rationalization of the teaching staff at the faculties  is encouraged
The realization of the project is in three phases,the first two of which are already completed:
Research
Presentation of the achievments of the research and promotion
Creating a curriculum with a packet of subjects  from the domain of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial management
A subject and a goal of the research was establishing the need for development of entrepreneurial skills with the students at the University “ St. Kliment Ohridski”  – Bitola.
The following conclusions were brought after the research was completed:
Emphasized need for subjects from the domain of the entrepreneurship in the curricula of all the facutlies ( obligatory and  optional)
The subject Entrepreneurship  to be maintained at all the faculties and not only at those from the econimic and business area
It is noted that the practical education isn’t prevalen enough in the curricula and a book of rules for regulating this question at the level of all the Universities should be prepared
A Need for  existence of centres at the level of universities or faculties for supporting the students for making business plans is expressed
Need of providing sources for finacing of these centres
Need for introducing the subjects: management of changes, business surrouding, innovation and competitive advantages, management of small business, business communication, business leadership, marketing and business ethics.
The ways at which the program of the curriculum will be realized are the following:
The teaching of all the subjects to be realized more practically in order better to be obtained better professional knowledge and skills
Practise and probation to be implemented during the studying
A better cooperation between the Faculties and the business sector to be built

Conference “ Entrepreneurial education – Encouraging an entrepreneurial reasoning”

02-04 June 2008, Metropol Hotel , Ohrid

In order to correlate the Universities with the business sector within the framework of its activities and functioning BSC Bitola has organized an international conference on topic “ Encouraging an entrepreneurial reasoning“ , with  participation of 69 participants , foreign experts and university professors from Netherlands , Bulgaria, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo , as well as professors from the Macedonian Universities, students, representatives from the business sector, the Regional Business Centres BSC and other associations and corporations.

The conference was opened by the rector of the University St. Kliment Ohridski from Bitola, the professor dr. Zlatko Zolglev, Rozita Talevska Hristovska the manager of the Centre for business development BSC Bitola and professor dr. Konstantin Petkovski, team leader.

The plenary part of the conference continued with the presentation of professor dr. Dean Iliev, and besides him, interesting presentations in the plenary part of the work of the conference have had Donald Ropes professor from Netherlands, Aleksandra Sinadinovska Sumar from the Euro College from Kumanovo, the professors and experts from Netherlands Joop Vianen, Hans Wissema  , Cordin Kruijne , Martin Haring , Miroslav Mateev professor at the American University in Bulgaria and Petko Ruskov professor at the Sofia University.

The purpose of the conference was the integration of the study research in courses with successful practical experiences, through :

  1. Presentation of the scores from the research for student aspirations for entrepreneurial education which was administered at the University “ St. Kliment Ohridski “ Bitola.

  2. Building a platform for changing ideas for establishing more entrepreneurial accesses for the curriculum.

  3. Connecting the gap between the business sector and the higher education.

The second part passed on work in three groups :

I GROUP : Entrepreneurship in the faculty programs

II GROUP : Teaching methodologies : Entrepreneurial access

III GROUP : Bridging over the gap between the Universities and the business sector

Recommendations and conclusions for future functioning were prepared within the framework of the working groups. At the final day of the conference , these conclusions and recommendations were presented on a plenary session and accepted of all the relevant subjects. The obtained information and experiences have great significance for successful finishing of the project.

   

Workshops Teachers Development Trajectory (Teachers develop teaching trajectory)

The Centre for business development BSC Bitola , in cooperation with the University “ St. Kliment Ohridski “ has made an evaluation of the needs in the domain of the entrepreneurial education within the framework of the university and resulted in need of development of the teaching by learning new methods.

The participants at the conference Entrepreneurial Education , which was held in June 2008 in Ohrid , whose host was Prof. D-r Zlatko Zoglev, rector at the University “ St. Kliment Ohridski”- Bitola, confirmed the findings from the research and they concluded that besides introducing the entrepreneurial elements in the faculty curriculum and promotion of the cooperation between the University and the business sector, basic for UCLO is the teaching staff to develop and improve their entrepreneurial teaching methods.

In collaboration with the University and Professor Donald Rops from Netherlands BSC Bitola started with Teacher Development Trajectory. The aim of this project is the participants to learn how to ease, organize and teach entrepreneurship in their appropriate fields. Participants in these workshops are professors and teachers’ aides at the faculties at the University “ St. Kliment Ohridski “ Bitola.

The first and the second workshop from the project were held on 6 and 7 of November ,2008, in Ohrid.The participants worked on the topics “ entrepreneurial abilities and developing teaching environment “ having the development of the entrepreneurship as its goal. The third and the fourth workshop of the project Teacher Development Trajectory was held on 9 and 10 March , 2009, in Prilep.

The participants worked on the topics “ case study “ and “ role play”. The topic of the fifth workshop is teaching for entrepreneurial abilities and will be held on 15 June in Bitola. The conclusion of the project Teacher Development Trajectory is in September 2009 with organizing a sixth workshop and academic visit of Amsterdam, Netherlands, where the professors will have a chance to see how their colleagues teach these topics at the University in Amsterdam.
